An interesting sighting when HY and I went for the
Singapore Garden Festival recently. Tickled me for quite
a while.

3:34:00 PM

I am back from Malacca!
Went to A'famosa Resort for a 3D2N Happy Family package. It was a relaxing trip away from the hussle and bustle of city life in Singapore and I got to spend quality time with my HY =) Was quite worried on the way there cos it hadn't stopped raining for 3 days and it was still raining when we left. We passed by some flooded areas along the North South highway to Malacca but it didn't affected us. Felt sorry for those villagers who lost there homes and crops though.
I have some complains about the lousy service we had to tolerate but overall the activities there were interesting and fun! Basically we could only thoroughly explore the place on the 2nd day where the weather was more cheerful. Accomplished a couple of No.1 in my duration there:
1) Riding an elephant
2) Riding a rodeo
The shows at the Animal Safari and Carnival at Cowboy Town were exciting and well rehearsed. And the performers are a friendly bunch unlike the service staff. One word to describe the animal: CUTE!!!!! The buildings at Cowboy Town are short shophouses modelled after those seen in Cowboy movies. Will be putting up pictures later..
Whether I will recommend A'famosa to my friends? I rather not. The service isn't great and food is overpriced for their standard. The fun experienced at the Animal safari and Carnival is definitely not enough to compensate for these shortcomings. Like HY said, " A'famosa is like our Downtown East for the M'sians" Only that theirs is huge at 520ha and ours does not have an Animal Safari and Cowboy Town..

I have been hooked to blogging again recently.. It is therapeutic when you have nothing better to do at home. Since I have no temp job this december and like Jo had said, "There is only so much movies and TV you can watch" - Blogging really takes some of the boredom away. Hahz! Of course.. There is also so much shopping and clubbing I can handle. Hmmm.. I am starting to miss the gift wrapping job at Marks and Spencer. Hopefully I can get to work there one last time before I grad and find a perm job.

Just came back from Mambo at Zouk with a group of pri sch frens. The music there was nice though I can't say that I know how to boogie to the beat. It was quite amusing to see some "lamers" doing para para sakura hand actions on the podium - to the extend that people ard me (and including me!) started following their hand actions.. The whole feel was quite old school.

BUT... there is always a BUT...

The drinks there suck big time. Seems like they have traded Absolute Vodka for something of a lesser quality such that they can afford to add more vodka into the drinks hoping to fool youngsters into thinking that the drinks are better at Zouk due to the higher alcoholic content! Quantity does not equal to quality - the vodka lime I ordered has like 60% vodka in it. Not only was it too bitter for my liking the worse was the sour after taste (def not from the lime) due to the lousier vodka used. I rather pay a higher price for a better quality with lesser vodka content and enjoy the drink than consuming one that is cheap with high vodka content but taste like @#$%.

Plus Zouk is really too crowded for comfort. Unlike MOS, though it may be crowded, at least the washroom is spacious enought for gals to take a break from the heat from the dance floor.. Besides, Zouk's bag depository is placed in a really unstrategic location where a queue would jam up the whole stairway..

Enough complains about Zouk. I have satisfied my mambo cravings and intends to shun that place for now. Maybe I will stick to the Double O and MOS ladies nite from now on.

Official Opening of National Museum of Singapore - 7 Dec 06
Tuesday, December 12, 2006 3:19:00 PM

Did ushering at the official opening of the National Museum of Singapore.. It was quite tiring standing 6 hrs from 5-10pm but I had a great time feasting my eyes on the gorgeous dresses and suits the VIPs were wearing that night. Not to mention the scrumptious food catered by Four Seasons Hotel - The red and white wine, desserts, cheesy scallops, battered mushrooms etc etc... Of course.. the food were meant for the VIPs but the volunteers (us) helped ourselves to the leftovers at the end of the event as a form of reward. I was guzzling away the wine which tasted so ~heavenly~

We are able to view the magnificent dome from inside
the building for the first time in 119 years. It's more
beautiful at night when the lights enhances the
structural beauty.

This was where I was assigned to do ushering
- The fashion segment of the Singapore Living Galleries.
Had to open the uber heavy doors for the VIPs. Not that bad
from where I was standing cos I could see all the activities going
on at the main area.

The hallway linking the four segments of the
Singapore Living Galleries

The swinging chandeliers which will swing a different
design every 15 mins

Ohhhh... Last but not least.. The food! I only
took a shot of the dessert.. See the white circular
puff with a blueberry in the center? It's heavenly
I tell you. I dun know what it is called but it melts in
your mouth and the its light sweetness spread throughout
your body making you feel lighthearted and happy. Jiahui was
so amused at my reaction when I put the whole puff into my mouth.
I think I ate a dozen of it that night.

10:45:00 AM

After much procrastination I spent the whole morning clearing out by wardrobe. Now I am going shopping for formal clothes =)
9 more days to Malacca!

Some pictures from yesterday's cycling trip

I realized we forgot to pose with the bikes.. Ahaha

This is one very scenic picture. I like.. The dudes are building a gigantic sand castle.

Went cycling today at East Coast Park with HY.. Can't remember the last time I did this. It was quite rejuvenating feeling the wind in my face and breathing air with slight tinge of salt from the sea. It would be perfect if people could just cycle in the right lane and not dangerously cut into my path. Furthermore, I was quite unstable with the bike at first cos I haven't been cycling for like a gazillion years. So I was quite thankful HY was behind watching out for me albeit the nagging that I got.

The weather was uber cranky today. It was raining at one end of the coast and sun was shining on the other end. So HY and I were like cycling faster at the end to avoid the approaching rain. Abit like the rain cloud trying chase us. But the resulting rainbow due to this "phenomenon" was amazing. I haven't seen a rainbow so distinct before. Usually the rainbows I see are quite faint.

Did anyone watched news today? Apparently, we witnessed an accident where this man drowned while saving his son who was struggling in the sea. The son was saved but this poor man lost his life. We didn't know what happened while we were there and I was speculating that someone had drowned given that there were so many fire engines, police cars and ambulances (2 of each actually).. I also vaguely hear someone say there were divers too. I only got the know the full story when i watch the 10pm news. It's quite shocking - one moment we were passing by that area towards the bicycle rental, the next moment, like within a span of 15 min, we saw this big hooha when we ride pass that area again on our bikes. I am wondering if there were so many people around the beach, how come there is no one who could help this man who didn't know how to swim?! And many people just stood by the side watching the "drama" unfold in front of them. Could they have done more the help avoid this tragedy? Perhaps this could have been avoided if there were ample lifeguards around. I see many of them at Sentosa not doing much and I noticed none in ECP today where are are so many kids playing around near the sea. I seriously think that our resources are not allocated in the right places sometimes.

Oh well.. the bottomline is to live life to the fullest and without regrets cos you never know what can happen to you. I'll upload pictures soon.

These are the pictures from yesterday's movie by the beach. I hope Sentosa do this every year =)

Revived! Random stuff
9:41:00 AM

After more than a year long of hiatus, I have finally decided to stop procrastinating and get down to blogging again =) Exams are over and I have 3 WHOLE weeks to spend it the way I want it - Not tied down by any schedule, no project deadlines, no test/exams/quizes, no temp job, no need to set alarm clock - ok I think you get the point. This semester has been additionally tiring partly due to my participation in the Arts Festival in Wk 4.. Seems like a long time ago right? But the draining effects continued through the semester.. Plus a heavier work load in sch this time. And the exams? - Trust me 3 open books (one with 10 sheets of paper - I consider this open book) did not help at all. They were are too tricky for my humble intelligence.

Oh well oh well.. Enough rantings about sch. I have not met many of my dear friends for like half a year due to clashing schedules and stuff and I am trying to meet up with as many people as possible during this 3 weeks. Hopefully I can meet all of them.. God knows when I can meet them when sch starts in Jan. Grrr.. I think they won't be able to recognise me already..

The past week has been enjoyable despite having sore throat, flu and cough. All because I drank the mA La soup - which sadly shouldn't be - during the steamboat on sat right after exams. But as usual I can't help it when it comes to spicy stuff~~ Ohhh.. and the mutton meat is so tender and juicy... and heaty. The night continued with drinking at Eski Bar and overnight majong at Jo's place = more drinking with Syl, Jo and Da Jie. Up till the point my voice broke and I had to replace vodka with water.. Darn~ Did I mention we had prata? Ya.. I like to challenge my health to the limit.

Went suntanning with Huiying on Mon despite the sore throat and all and came back home with a fever.. Much to the exasperation of both my mom and HY.. But I just can't stop myself I guess.. I am desperate! Desperate to have as much fun as possible before the avalanche of work starts coming. I booked a holiday to Malacca at A'famosa resort - almost didn't get it had I not presevered. E resort is disgustingly fully booked and I have to pay the weekend surcharge.. But I guess it'll still be fun =) There are nightly fireworks at this integrated resort! Can you believe it?!! The rest of the week passed in a blur with eating, sleeping, shopping, spending time with mom, catching up with dvds.. Haha! I am starting to feel more alive.

I went for the outdoor movie screening of "The Holiday" @ Palawan Beach in Sentosa last night. It was so romantic - the weather was perfect and the crowd wasn't that big. Nice Lying on the sand and cuddling up with your loved one and watching the Christmas romantic comedy movie. But the next time we go, we will be there earlier to built a sand dune as back support. We saw this ang moh couple lying on it beside us looking so comfy! Beats having to support your body weight on your arms or sitting straight.. Though I wasn't sitting very straight la - but I got backache after awhile. I shall post pictures soon.

Think this is enough for one random post.. Tonight is overnight majong session part 2 =)
